Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 22 January 2007 -- A1 Team Malaysia will be representing its nation on the Proton Australia stand at the 2007 Brisbane Motorsport Show next month and Alex Yoong will attend to meet the fans.

The A1GP World Cup of Motorsport race car liveried in the Malaysian's national colours will take pride of place as the centrepiece of the automotive manufacturers exhibition stand and is expected to attract strong interest from the show visitors.
The show opening coincides with the Australian round of the A1GP series being held in Eastern Creek, Sydney and with popular driver, Yoong, on duty throughout the race weekend, his visit to the Motor Show will have to wait until he's competed in the Sprint and Feature races that characterise the championship.

Yoong's support for Proton Australia begins with a guest appearance at the Satria Neo launch. He will participate in the ride and drive programme with the Australian media, culminating in a press conference at a luxury hotel outside Sydney.

On the final Saturday of the Brisbane Motor Show Yoong will be the star attraction at the Show, when he will meet the fans and sign autographs on the Proton Australia stand.

Yoong says of the tie-up with Proton Australia, "One of the privileges of being an international race driver is the unique opportunities that are presented and this Proton trip is certainly going to be one of these. I'll enjoy sampling the new Satria Neo and visiting a little more of the beautiful Australian countryside. Meeting the A1 Team Malaysia fans at the Brisbane Motor Show will also be fun and I hope I'll be going along with a trophy from the Australian A1GP race!"

John Startari, Managing Director, Proton Australia adds, "We are delighted that Alex will be joining with us for our new car launch and to be our special guest at the Brisbane Motor Show and I know he'll be a big hit with the fans and visitors to the Proton Australia stand. We wish A1 Team Malaysia the best of luck at Eastern Creek on 4 February and hope that we'll be celebrating with Alex in Sydney and Brisbane."
